This is a great theme if you find your class needs a settling environment. I am finding that lately, my students are enjoying a calming atmosphere. Incorporate your grade 5 social studies program into language by getting your students to summarize informational text!

This activity will probably take your students about 4 days to complete. 5 days including presentations. You will need access to an iPad with a QR scanner or a Chromebook/laptop. Students will use a graphic organizer to summarize a passage on a Noteworthy Historical Figure in Canada's Black History. Thank you for downloading our Halloween Writing Prompt package! These are simple activities that I like to use as a bell ringer, or incorporated for 10-15 minutes throughout the day.

This reflection was used for individual students who struggled in many different ways in the classroom! I sat with the student and they chose their goals for the week as well as acknowledge emotions and positive behaviour they demonstrated.

Encourage self belief within your students! Often we don't take time to allow students to praise themselves. With this activity, students can look at their positive character traits, and build up their self-esteem! Use this activity at the beginning of the year, or a time of the year where you see your students starting to struggle more and get down on themselves!
