About the store
I have had the pleasure of teaching for four years now at a rural High School in Florida. I currently teach English I Honors and a variety of Drama courses. I have also taught English III (American Lit) for two years and gifted 8th grade Language Arts during my internship (with an emphasis on Shakespeare).
My Drama courses include Introductory Drama, Theatre I, Theatre II, Theatre III Honors, Theatre IV Honors, Technical Theatre, Acting I, and Stage Management and Directing.

Lighting Design: Gobo Project
This can be a quick creative activity for substitute days, or an extended project for technical theatre students. I have found it difficult to find creative hands-on activities when teaching technical theatre when money and resources are hard to come by, but This worksheet allows students to design the visual effects of lighting. The assignment asks students to sketch a design for a gobo and explain the effect it provides in a scene.

Careers in The Film Industry Research Project
This project asks students to explore one non-performance position in the film industry. The handout provides directions and requirements of the project, suggestions on how to present a strong PowerPoint presentation, and a list of careers to choose from for the research assignment. On the back of the handout, there is an outline for the 9 required slides of the presentation for what information should be included.

Advanced Gobo Design Assignment
This short PowerPoint slideshow introduces students to gobo effects. It also explains a hands-on project in which the students design and cut out a gobo and present it to the class.
You will need black construction paper, pencils, and scissors (and/or Exacto knives) to complete this activity.

Teaching style
Whether in my English Language Arts or Drama lessons I strive to foster creativity, critical thinking, and independence in my students. Through cooperative learning and applying the Gradual Release of Responsibility, students are able to explore the subjects of Literature and Theatre independently, with the security of a safety net in the support found in my lessons.

I earned my B.A. in English at the University of Florida and then returned for my M.Ed. in English Education. I am certified in secondary English Language Arts.
Additional biographical information
In addition to my formal education in English, I have been involved in the Theatre Arts for 22 years. Beginning in my Mother's dance classes, I moved on to acting and eventually directing. I have been active within my community's theater for nearly ten years now and I am constantly striving to gain more knowledge in theatre.
