Giraffe Art Lesson, Momma & Baby, Collage for Elementary Students

This Giraffe art lesson from DreamArtMachine is written to stand alone as an art lesson for art teachers but can also be integrated in other content area units such as Africa, giraffes, mother and baby animals, etc. The lesson provides experiences with drawing, collage, 2-D, 3-D, visual texture, and color contrast. Many visuals have been provided to create a project as simple as a coloring page or as complex as an art lesson that reflects student creativity and originality. Tips and suggestions

Free 2-D Visual Textures for Collages and Crafts

These 2-D visual textures can be printed to use in collages, teacher resources, scrap booking backgrounds, and other crafts. Or, download and use in computer generated projects. There are 22 pages full of bright and bold colors. Prints show a lot of visual texture that resemble both hand made and organic marks in an abstract fashion. Great visual textures for hands young and old.

Additional biographical information

I have always been creative. When I was three, I was known to pick up the Sunday paper and fashion for myself a dress and parade it around the house. However, during my years in public education, art was never an option. Constantly on the move in a military family, I excelled in diorama and poster projects. However, due to gaps in skills, academically I rated as a borderline “B” student. Today, I create and teach art on a regular basis and it feeds my soul. I know the importance of the arts as part of developing the whole child. "Creativity" is at the top of the Bloom's Taxonomy of Thinking for good reason. My heart and passion is in sharing the arts with those around me. I prepare lessons that integrate arts and craft throughout content areas. I hope to inspire teachers and students with lessons that will feed the right side of the brain as well as the left.
