About the store
Health Sciences is my specialty. I currently teach Biomedical Technology, Forensic Science, and Health Science II, and I’ve spent the last 18 years teaching every Health Science course in the North Carolina pathway. I love creating real-world learning experiences through labs, case studies, and investigative activities that help students feel like they’re truly stepping into healthcare and forensic roles. My goal is always to make lessons meaningful, engaging, and easy to use in your classroom. This year, I had to step out of the classroom for a period of time, which pushed me to create thoughtful, structured sub plans that actually work. I know how stressful it can be to be out, so I designed these resources to keep students learning, on task, and accountable—while making things as smooth and low-stress as possible for you.

Paper Airplane Trials Lab: Experimental Design & Data Analysis

Bring experimental design to life with this engaging, hands-on Paper Airplane Trials Lab! Students test different paper airplane designs through repeated trials, collect data, calculate averages, and reflect on replication and validity. This activity introduces (or reinforces) the scientific method, variables, data collection, and analysis—all in a low-prep, high-engagement format. Students love the interactive nature of this lab, and teachers love that it naturally leads to discussions about

Oobleck Impact Challenge: Shear-Thickening Fluid Egg Drop STEM Lab

Bring nanotechnology and materials science to life with this hands-on Oobleck Impact Challenge! Students explore how shear-thickening fluids (STFs) behave under force as they design and test an egg-drop device that uses oobleck to absorb impact. This engaging, low-prep lab is perfect for Biomedical Technology, Biology, Physical Science, STEM, or Engineering classrooms. Oobleck behaves like a liquid with slow movement but instantly stiffens under sudden impact—just like modern STF protective ge

Experience

Teaching style

I teach through curiosity and investigation. Students learn best when they feel like the scientists, healthcare professionals, or forensic investigators we want them to become. My lessons emphasize critical thinking, evidence-based reasoning, collaboration, and real-world scenarios. I incorporate inquiry labs, medical simulations, crime scene analysis, and structured note-taking that help students build confidence and independence. My goal is always to create a classroom where learning feels meaningful, interactive, and empowering.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My greatest awards are the success stories my students create, but I’m also proud to have earned National Board Certification, Teacher of the Year, and the Nurse of Distinction Award. I lead programs like our school blood drives and mentor students through certifications, mock interviews, and shadowing experiences. The moments that shine brightest are when students find their path and discover a passion for healthcare or forensics.

My own education history

I hold a Master’s degree in Health Services and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Before transitioning into education, I spent many years working at the bedside as a registered nurse and later moved into healthcare management. I earned my clear teaching license through NC State University and am a National Board Certified Teacher in health science education. My combination of clinical experience, leadership background, and advanced educator training allows me to create resources that are both accurate and practical for real classroom use.

Additional biographical information

Outside the classroom, I live a simple, intentional life on a small homestead in the foothills of the North Carolina Appalachian Mountains. I spend my time gardening, raising animals, working with my horses from the Driften Rose bloodline and creating herbal remedies—activities that remind me daily of the value of patience, curiosity, and growth. These same principles guide the way I teach and create classroom resources. I love designing materials that make learning feel meaningful, organized, and accessible for both students and teachers.
