Drive Yourself Math

These sets are designed to allow students progress at their own rate, hence the name Drive Yourself Math. Students who have “shut down” due to previous negative experiences with math and zero self-confidence can find renewed hope in these self-paced math sets that build skills slowly. They start out easy which allows the student to experience success which in turn sparks a desire to try. These short daily algebra sets were designed to build equation-solving skills gradually. On day one, the students do Automaticity Set 1. They are called Automaticity Sets because the goal is for the student to develop each skill to such a mastery level that it becomes “automatic.” We call them Autos for short. Use Cheezits to teach total surface area in this math lab. A Cheezit is one square inch so use them to cover a box and discover the total surface area. Use peanut butter (or icing if there are allergies) to stick the Cheezits to the individual cereal box. Afterward, EAT !
