I began teaching in the mid 1990s as a chemistry and biology teacher. For the better part of my teaching career, I have taught chemistry and all levels of secondary and community college mathematics. I LOVE teaching all things STEM!

I am a constructivist teacher. I love projects and practice sheets that are pencil and paper, but also use online strategies for my distance learning college classes.

The best rewards that I have received as a teacher are the students in whose lives I have made a difference. That one parent who always beams when we meet at the grocery store as he tells me "My son is a chemical engineer and it's all your fault." That parent who posted on social media thanking me for helping her son achieve his lifelong goal of being a dentist. My beautiful former student who keeps me up to date on her career in meteorology. That difficult student who didn't believe she could graduate high school, but went on to earn a diploma and a college degree. The sweet young men who are working their way through college as grocery baggers and always come to my line and give me a hug. These are the things that make teaching worthwhile to me.

Special thanks go out to my son for the inspiration for my storefront name. We taught at the same community college for a short time. At that time, he began to affectionately refer to me as "Dr. Mom." Family is everything. :)
