We used these slides to review letter sounds and identification, cvc word segmenting and decoding, sight words, addition, and number bonds the day before Thanksgiving break. Students were put into "decathlon" type teams and given some type of bell or buzzer. Each team had a different question on each slide and if they buzzed in and answered their team's question correctly first, they got to turn the pie release knob on the Assistant Principal's or Principal's Pie in the Face game. Students will draw an example of a food chain from an ecosystem of their choice (desert, grassland, rain forest, aquatic, marine, arctic etc.). Then they will use the TIDE mnemonic graphic organizer (from SRSD) to plan their informational essay.
