Design a Hiding Place for Elf on a Shelf
Design an elf's hiding place. Students can explore creative ideas of where an elf could hide. This comes with one one-page worksheet and one reference sheet. Once students have designed their hiding spot, they can build the spot with blocks, found objects, or cardboard.

My Studio Habits of Mind Artwork Tags
I have students tag most of their artwork; this is the best routine for my elementary art studio. I found this saves me time during art shows, contests, hallway displays, and lost projects. I use this as a formative assessment to see what studio habits students are focusing on and their understanding of that habit. Students glue the top part labeled to the back of the artwork. That so the tag can be folded backwards if needed.

Coloring Practice
I use this to help teach my students proper coloring skills. The rule in my classroom is that we learn the rules of art making so we know how to break them. There are four practice charts in one paper. You can cut the paper so each student has one chart. I use this as a warm-up and bellringer type of activity. It can also be used to assess student growth. You can use this for crayons, colored pencils, oil pastels, watercolor, acrylic, tempera, pencils, and charcoal. You can use it for really any

Studio Rubics for Materials
Here are four sheets with twelve rubrics, nine are labeled, and one blank sheet is available to label the rubric if needed, in case you have different studios/materials than I do. There are three rubrics to.a sheet and four numbered circles to fill in the varying material expectations. I hand-color each selection with the listed material and laminate it. Compare and Contrast
You can print this out or use software like Google Jamboard which is what I do. It's a great way to engage students on art topics and assess their knowledge. You can also project on the board and have students write directly on the board. This can be a group or individual activity. I made this to be changeable so I can use use the same document for any and all topics.

Weekly Bellwork Journal
Great for bellwork writing assignments or multiple-choice questions. I use this for practicing writing spelling words, pre-assignments, and reviews. I will print thefront and back and the sheet last two weeks.

Sletchbook Grid
This is an 11-week-long worksheet great for short sketchbook assignments. I use sketchbook assignments for bellwork. Each shape is numbered and I just write the board complete sketchbook entry in shape 1. I like having the different sizes do they challenge students but have a nice frame around their sketches. In the upper right corner, you can write the dates to keep track.

Use this to get to know your students; they can be hung in the classroom or hallway. I also complete this worksheet, so they get to know the same information.

Great for help IEP team and staff has all the IEP information needed to provide the best services for students. A two-page document that can be printed front and back.

Artist Mapping
Use this worksheet to teach students about artists from around the world. I use this for a mini research project and upload this to Google JamBoard for students to complete as a class. This is a great way to engage students. This could also be used to assess students.

Teaching style
I use TAB to give students control and choice over their art-making. My classroom is, for the most part, student-led. I break my lessons into three parts: teaching technique, art history, and studio time.

Additional biographical information
A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, Caleb Jordan Burchett was born and raised in Eastern Kentucky Appalachia. Caleb was diagnosed with Common Variable Immune Deficiency at the age of eight, the treatment for this condition can be time-consuming and somewhat painful at times. His current treatment is sub-q and he administers the medication himself weekly. He uses art to distract himself from this process, as a child this is where his love for art started. In his studio practice, he expresses his love for nature, his loved ones, the human body, landscape, current topics, and the south. Burchett recently has been using photography, mixed media, printmaking, and painting to express these subjects. Mr. Burchett has experience in teaching art in a K-12 environment, teaching art history, painting, printmaking, reusable material sculptures, and more! Burchett values and appreciates humor and making others laugh. His laugh is contagious and he has the right amount of sarcasm. Outside of the studio, Burchett enjoys baking homemade cakes, having Friday night dinners with his siblings and nieces, watching his nephew play baseball, and cruising town with friends.
