30 years of formal classroom teaching of Visual Arts I-IV, Graphic Design I-III, and Fine Crafts I-III (Fibers, Clay, Paper, Metals), Advanced Placement Portfolios in 2D Design, 3D Design and Drawing. An experienced educator-leader of workshops for local and state art colleagues. Project and grant writing collaboration with, and resident artist/classroom teacher for, local major museum. Major writer and chairperson for three district curriculum writings in Visual Arts, Fine Crafts and Graphic Design.

The wide range of my teaching required I remain open to changes in the arts and related technologies. I am a reflective practionioner, researching and adapting new ideas for students. My expectations are high, activities that address multiple learning styles are used, and grades are varied, reflecting the overall learning of my students. I am firm, but fair. I am approachable and availalbe to assist students. My approach to assessment includes student address to project goals and the degree to which those are met, student personal growth, and student understanding of materials and process. I value my curriculum and consider it equally important as courses viewed as academic. I develop activities and experiences that lead students to take ownership of their learning, increasing this requirement as they advance to levels appropriate for independent studies. I am an involved educator, seeking out and using a variety of resources and available technology to develop lessons, and involve students in community and real-life experiences as appropriate. Seeker of opportunities for personal growth and those that can be translated to personal experiences for my students.

State Secondary Art Educator of the Year; twice National Board Certified in Early Adolescent/Young Adult Art; three-time recipient of Who's Who Among American Teachers; repeated recognition of, and success with, student winners for local, regional, and National Scholastics; recipient of multiple national and regional scholarships and grants to pursue personal studies in metals and fine crafts at nationally recognized art/craft schools/centers; recipient of 11 week sabbatical/residency in small metals at a major art center; Recipient of Arts & Science Council Regional Emerging Artist Grant.

Publication of personal and educational works in print, periodicals and online. Producing artist, presently working in metals and atypical materials for jewelry forms.
