Echoing Engagement

Use these slides to get your students ready for the STAMP proficiency test. I did not do them all in one day but built separate lessons using a variety of the attached activites. You'll get reflection questions for the students to use after taking Avant's sample test as well as ACTFL profiency can do statements for the students to reflect upon after practicing each skill. Students will participate in a Gallery Walk about environmental issues in the Spanish-speaking world. Using ghe linked document, students identify each problem and how it effects the country and its people. They will also identify appropriate vocabulary and answer a comprehension quesiton on each slide.

Have your students research one of UNESCO's natural heritage sites in the Spanish-speaking world. A list of sites is provided along with a teacher-created model of the assignment and a simple classwork rubric. You may also choose to have the students present their findings to one another. This is a great supplement to any travel or nature unit or to do just for fun!

Students can choose a topic (environment, healthy, family, etc.) to review for the STAMP proficiency test in Spanish. Then, they make purposeful connections by moving the hexagons and creating sentences using the appropriate vocabulary. A model slide with directions is provided.

Get students to think outside the box by having them interpret some nature-inspired artwork by Hispanic artists. Students use Artful Thinking Routines to process the nature theme through art. These Google Slides contain 4 Artful Thinking Routines organized by complexity as well as 4 works of art. The students can choose with which art piece to complete each routine.

Use these directions, model mini projects and list of traditional Hispanic dishes for your novice level students to discover trandional foods around the Spanish-speaking world. This is an easy, quick lesson to compliment your food unit.
