The War Flip Card Battle Mat math center is an engaging, game-like way for students to practice key number recognition skills. By using a standard deck of playing cards or any numbered deck and simple card-flipping mechanic, students build their ability to identify numbers, understand their values, and compare them using greater than, less than, and equal to concepts. 18 years teaching special education in both a self-contained and ICT classroom.

Teaching style

Hands on teaching through the use of exemplars and teacher student interaction. Once I have established a student's misunderstanding of a concept, I develop a graphic organizer to assist them with following the process in a way that allows them to develop an understanding of a specific pattern.

I believe in treating my students like people. I let them know that their interests and goals are important and help to form the prior knowledge they need to learn, even if they have not realized it yet.
