"Mad Libs" with Montessori Grammar Symbols

I never explicitly learned grammar in school, but I knew about nouns, verbs, etc. because I loved making silly stories with Madlibs! These are some silly stories with blanks that have Montessori symbols (and what they mean) printed underneath. One child (or adult) asks for each word from the group, writes them in the correct space, and then reads the whole thing aloud when complete. 3 separate stories with nouns, verbs, and adjectives (the 3rd also has adverbs). Last page is 6 separate sente

Montessori Timelines of Life, Humans 1&2, Civilizations

Some classic Timelines from Montessori! They are classic AMI timelines; somewhat dated, but still useful.

Area Cutouts for Rectangles, Parallelogram, Triangles (Montessori BW print+cut)

Classic "Yellow Area Material" from Montessori Elementary, helps teach concept of area as measured by identical squares on rectangle. Once that is mastered, this material shows how other shapes with equivalent areas can be converted into rectangles, eventually leading to algebraic notation (A = BH, A = BH/2). RectangleParallelogramRight TriangleAcute TriangleObtuse triangles. Print BW on cardstock (use yellow paper for classic look), or glue paper to cardboard. Cut along dashed lines (NOT solid

Kingdom Vegetalia/Plantae Taxonomic Circles (Montessori color print+cut)

These beautifully illustrated circle cards are designed to be used with a spreading evolutionary "tree" with circles representing each major adaptational change leading to a new category of plants. Each branch is intended to be either/or (2 distinct choices) It's somewhat dated and uses the traditional taxonomy, but very helpful for getting the key ideas of classification based on visible featur. Print in color on cardstock and cut out around outer circle. I did NOT make this! I don't know wh

Word Classification Charts for Adjectives, Nouns (Montessori language print)

Charts to help children separate various types of nouns and adjectives: Nouns: Concrete: common, proper, collective, mass/materialAbstract: quality, state, action, ideaAdjectives Qualitative: posessive, interrogative, demonstrative, qualitativeQuantitative: definite, indefinite, ordinalI made the Noun page, and my MNW friend Annie made the adjective one with pictures!

Sentence Analysis Activity Cutouts (Montessori print, fold, cut, and glue)

Build sentence analysis skills from simple noun+verb to long compound sentences. Print single sided in color, then fold down the middle, glue, and cut out each arrow and shape (each should be double-sided after folding). Write sentences on strips of paper, and have students rip off the predicate and place it on the big red circle, than rip off one part at a time that answers a question on the arrows, placing each black and orange arrow pointing out from the predicate, until whole sentences is

Pythagorean Theorem Activity: qualitative, quantitative (Montessori print+cut)

Learn the Pythagorean Theorem with hands-on activities! No numbers on the page until the children have discovered the key ideas for themselves. 1. Start with the first pages, which give a qualitative overview. Taking apart the 2 squares built off of 2 sides, you find that you can fit them perfectly in the space of one square made from the hypotenuse! (and vice-versa) 2. Then, discover your first Pythagorean triplet and the quantitative calculation. The areas of the squares on the sides (made up

Kingdom Animalia Taxonomic Circles (Montessori color print+cut)

These beautifully illustrated circle cards are designed to be used with a spreading evolutionary "tree" with circles representing each major adaptational change leading to a new category of animals. It uses the traditional Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species taxonomy. Only goes to the largest group with recognizable characteristics, going to Family for frogs. Print in color on cardstock and cut out around outer circle. I did NOT make this! I don't know who did, but it is a

History Question Charts (Montessori 11x17 BW print+color)

Essential questions to guide student research on particular groups around the world and throughout history. Children read the question, research, and write notes on 3" cards (ideally of the same color as the relevant question chart; a few are included in the print) and set them in each column below the question. If you aren't familiar with this material, check out this lil' lesson I made for Guidepost Montessori! It's about the Maori people, and the sample cards I made are included in the print.

Equivalent Area Cutouts for Hexagon, Rhombus (Montessori BW print)

These classic Montessori Elementary lesson materials build on prior work with equivalent rectangles and other shapes, and can be used to start work with algebraic notation. Alternative images for the Montessori People of the Zones lesson. Meant to show images of how people live in different climatic zones: Polar, Temperate, and Tropical. Beautiful pictues to be cut out and organized onto 3 separate charts. I did not create this, but I think someone in my Montessori Northwest 2019 class did after we saw how out-of-date and potentially offensive the traditional charts were (which showed "temperate" people as totally modern, "tropical" people still living traditional

Circle Cutouts for Area, Circumference, Pi (Montessori BW)

Classic Montessori Elementary lessons, help teach relationships between radius, circumference, and area using equivalent circles and rectangle. Also introduces concept and origin of Pi, eventually leading to algebraic notation. Equivalent circles, one cut into pieces to lay out as equivalent rectangle with length equal to the circumference and height equal to pie. Print on cardstock and cut out separate labels to introduce/practice algebra and word problems with upper elementary (/middle school) students. Includes 5 practice problems involving velocity and interest rates (separately). Introduce with velocity sample problem, then bring down the "what is wanted" and "what is known" cards. Fill in numbers on the blank labels and place with the appropriate variable (velocity/distance/time) and rate (miles/hours/mpg). Then solve the problem with golden bead m

Lower Elementary intro to animal research: start by placing a picture (or model) of an animal in the center, and placing one question under it. Try to answer the question using the color-matched answer cards. If you don't know, research! Then move on to the next question, and keep going until the animal is surrounded by questions and answers. Then, children can lay out one question with all of the possible answers spread beneath it, and then categorize animals by placing them beneath the correct
