In this PowerPoint place value models are used to show students how to write two digit numbers in expanded form.

This lesson demonstrates 2 digit plus 1 digit addition. It demonstrates regrouping by showing how 10 ones can be grouped and carried to the tens place with place value blocks on the left side of the screen. On the right side of the screen it walks students through the pencil and paper steps. It is designed with lot's of animation so students can visualize these concepts.

This PowerPoint demonstrates subtracting a 1 digit number from a 2 digit number. This presentation demonstrates subtraction with place value blocks, as well as shows, the pencil and paper method. The presentation shows regrouping through animation.

This PowerPoint was designed to go with Scott Foresman Addison Wesley 1st grade 8-4 Lesson. This presents the tricky concept of showing a number two ways with place value models. For example, 45 could be shown as 40 + 5 = 45 or 30 + 15 = 45. This presentation is animated and shows carrying a ten back to the ones place and breaking it apart.
