About the store
I have eleven years of experience as a classroom teacher in grades 2-5 and nine years as a homeschooling parent! Having two children of my own with very specific needs (ASD/gifted, ADHD/dyslexia) has only strengthened the foundation of my teaching philosophy, which is meeting kids where they are individually. I am am a huge champion of implementing the Orton-Gillingham approach with ALL children, as I have personally seen how it can break through reading barriers for struggling readers. I have been creating teaching resources on TPT since 2012 and am so grateful to be able to give back to the teaching community in this way. My resources have been used in over 14,000 classrooms all over the world, which just blows my mind! Thanks for stopping by!

But there is more to this than just decorating. This activity involves determining character traits and focuses on writing organized paragraphs. I've seen a lot of pumpkin book projects, but not many that are geared toward grades 2-5. What i

Timed Tests for Doubles, Make a Ten Facts, Mental Math, and Multiplication

After teaching 3rd grade for four years and then moving back to 2nd, I realized just how important it was for students to know their doubles facts, facts that equal 10, and mental math strategies to add/subtract. When teaching 3rd grade, many of my students would come in not knowing any of these, which made 3rd grade math more difficult for them. So when I began teaching 2nd grade again I was committed to having my students know these facts before moving on to 3rd grade. However, I did have some

Teaching style

My teaching style follows that of a multiage room because, essentially, that is exactly what it is. I love multi-sensory, hands-on activities and integrated units that combine many different subjects. I am a firm believer that learning can be fun, purposeful, and engaging given adequate and thorough planning. Let's meet children where they are now and make goals from there!

Additional biographical information

I'm a mom of 2 incredible boys and 2 spoiled rotten Boston terriers. I am a writer of children's literature and hopefully you'll be able to find my books on a shelf one day. I love traveling and have had the opportunity to live and teach Japan, Germany, CA, VA, NC, and OK!
