Four-square activity is so versatile. My favorite way to use this was through vocabulary and writing - but, it can be used with ANY subject, the possibilities are endless!
This is a high frequency assessment that can be used informally as an activity or in test format. It is aligned with Scott Foresman Reading Series First Grade story "Frog and Toad Together" using the high frequency words: read, soon, few, how, afraid, again. Students are given a word bank and sentences and must write the word in the blank that best completes the sentence.
I used this activity following a lesson on sense of smell. We discussed why smell is important and what kinds of things you can smell, and what kinds of things you cannot sense with smell. I had brought in several things for them to smell and guess what it is they were smelling. This activity lets them cut and paste the pictures and place into a T-Chart either under the nose for "can smell" or the "cannot smell" column. This is a great way to formally assess sense of smell in the primary gra
This activity reinforces comparative endings -er and -est. The students are given great visuals and must determine which comparative ending the picture describes. This can done in centers, completed individually, or done whole group by displaying it on the overhead projector to enhance a lesson on comparative endings.

Through this handout or center activity students are adjective detectives! Their mission to find all of the adjectives in the poem "Do Spiders Stick to Their Own Webs?" (poem provided with a picture) and circle them. This can be done individually, cooperatively in groups or pairs, or displayed on a Promethean Board or projector and done as a class. This aligns with the Scott Foresman 2nd grade story, "Anansi Goes Fishing," but this activity can stand on its own to teach adjectives, even if yo
This activity/assessment aligns with your weather lesson. Students are to observe the weather outside and sketch what type of cloud they see in the first space, what weather this cloud would bring in the second space, and what you should wear in this type of weather in the third space. Pictures are shown to help guide the students on how to draw what types of sketches are expected. Answer key is included (example of a cumulus cloud, sunny week - you would apply the appropriate weather to what
This PDF file has 20 pages of Bingo Cards (1 card on each page) which are great for learning to tell time to the hour and half hour. They are predominantly used for telling time on an analog clock, but some cards have some digital times as well. They are used exactly like the game of bingo. The teacher calls out a time, and students mark on their cards (with an object if you choose to laminate and reuse, or crayon if you're disposing of them). It's a fun and interactive way of learning to te
I used this when I tutored a 3rd grade student who was significantly behind in math to see what all concepts he had mastered from his second grade year. This is similar to what 2nd grade students were pre-assessed at the beginning of the year and then post-assessed at the end of the year in the classroom. The assessment consists of 2 pages with 11 problems with numbers and pictures. Concepts assessed include: number concepts, word problems, addition, subtraction, number words, skip counting,
This activity/assessment reinforces the concept of classifying animals: farm, zoo, or pet. Students are given a picture of an animal and must write "F" for farm, "Z" for zoo, or "P" for pet to classify each animal.
If you would like a powerpoint lesson to go along with this assessment, check out my product, "Classifying Animals: Zoo, Farm or Pet" for a cute social living lesson.
This printable math center is a fun way of teaching kids time to the half hour! There are a variety of ways to implement these cards. One way is: after you print, cut the cards (and laminate if you wish), and place them all face down. Then students play as a memory/concentration - where getting a pair requires matching the analog clock card to the digital clock card. You can also distribute, and have them play Go-Fish. Another way of using these cards are to print, cut, and paste together a
This activity reinforces the phonics skill: "-dge" ending (e.g. edge, ledge, etc). It can be used as a whole class activity on an overhead projector or Promethean Board, assigned as homework, or placed in a center. The students are to add "dge" to the end of the word, then say it aloud.

This handout is great for math centers, early finishers or a worksheet for a money lesson. The first page is just on pennies and nickels and teachers can assign what colors they want the students to color the pennies and nickels. The next page consists of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters in which they must identify the coins and color them the assigned color.
This 22 item handout is a great resource to your phonics lesson on ch- sh- th- and wh-. It's most appropriate for end of the year first graders through third grade. It would go great as a worksheet, homework, test, or lesson activity. The first part of the worksheet contains 12 items giving the second part of the word and students must indicate if it needs ch-, sh-, th-, or wh- to complete the word (e.g. _____ _____ oulder, the student would write "sh" to make "shoulder"). The second part of
This assessment is great to include as a formal assessment to any opposites lesson or presentation. Students must draw a line from each picture in the right column to its opposite in the left column. For early finishers, I had them draw 3 pictures of pairs of opposites on the back of the page.
Need a craft for Grandparents' Day? My students loved making these cute bookmarks for their grandparents. You can print these onto any paper, have kids decorate, stick backsides together, punch a hole through the dot and place yarn through it and tie it!
This 5 question assessment will check for students' understanding of astrological concepts. This test consists of multiple choice, fill in the blank, and a "connect the dots" to make their own start constellation.
This can be used as a supplemental assessment or worksheet to lessons on estimating sums and differences. It can also be used as homework, if needed. This 2 page worksheet starts with an example of how to estimate the sum of 477 and 592, round each addend to the nearest ten and then add the rounded numbers. It then gives students two problems (one addition and one subtraction) to round to the nearest ten, then estimate. The next page gives a list of craft supplies with prices, along with wor

This cut and paste activity is great for teaching students the concept of the number 7. It's ideal for teaching a class along with the story, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle (but not mandatory to do so). The students must cut 7 pieces of fruit and paste to the leaf for the caterpillar - one for every day of the week.
*This product is just the assessment itself, although I taught this with my Comprehensive Unit Plan (CUP): 7 Days of the Week - which is also for sale, and has a lo
