They are asked to explain their rating in review form to help their peers choose good reads in the future. We all strive to help students make their best possible choices, and when they don't we want them to learn from their mistakes. In order to learn they must be able to clear their minds and reflect, which can be inhibited if they don't think the process that got them to the point of being redirected by an adult was clear and fair. This poster not only provides a framework for teachers to use (or adapt as they see fit using this easy edited document file), but is great reference for students. NOTE
