About the store

Experience

Monica Yuskaitis (MY) taught school for 28 years mainly in the upper elementary grades but had the opportunity over the years of teaching every single grade level K-10 with the exception of first grade. In addition, she was a school administrator for 7 years serving as both vice principal and principal. She returned to the classroom as she was happiest there where she knew she could make the greatest difference in the lives of students.

Teaching style

Monica became highly interested in developing effective math lessons in her own class and then extending that knowledge as a math coach for 4 years in Ceres Unified School District (2 years with Math Matters and 2 years with CSIN Math). She loved developing lessons on powerpoint and became known as the “powerpoint queen” to her colleagues as she willing shared them with those she worked with. Today people all over the United States and world use her presentations.

Awards & shining teacher moments

She was Teacher of the Year at Hydahl Elementary, and helped new teachers improve their teaching effectiveness as a BITSA mentor for 4 years.

My own education history

Monica graduated from BYU with a major in elementary education and later got her M.S. degree in education from California State University, Stanislaus.

Additional biographical information

She also serves as a volunteer in the Oakland LDS Temple. She loves to paint, cook, work on genealogy, and garden. She is married to Robert Yuskaitis and has two daughters who are married and 6 grandchildren that are the light of her life.
