This is the unit plan for Turtles all the Way Down. In this plan, there are reading assignments, inquiry practice, characterization support practice, paragraph writing, and much more. It comes with an anticipation guide as well as a summative (that is not an essay). Students will learn why they enjoy working with this novel.

Movie trailers are awesome; book trailers are even better. Here is a rubric that you can use for an assessment on reading. You can use this for a choice unit. You could also use this assessment with a short story unit, poetry unit, drama unit... The trailers are a lot of fun because it puts the students in their element.
16 multiple choice (a - e) questions and 4 paragraph response questions; 1 paragraph response is about gothic novels and 1 is about Romanticism. Used in an AP English Literature class.
This short story unit is in one hyperdoc. It has links to four short stories and four ways for students to analyze each short story. Focuses on plot diagram, characterization, literary terms, and thematic statements.
Your students will delve into Frankenstein as well as perspective and other literary elements. They will write a poem that depicts an important event from the novel. They will need to write in a different persona than the book narrator as well as use a variety of figurative language. A fun yet challenging assignment.

This article about the Space Jam sequel tests students on their ability to correctly punctuate with commas. They are evaluating essential and nonessential phrases as well as unnecessary commas and comma splices. Made in ACT style format.
Choice novels can be hard to assess. This assessment calls on each student to supply a thematic analysis, most important quotes analysis, basic information, and soundtrack for his/her choice novel. I love the choice this assessment gives my students! Rubric is linked in the canva.
Students will (and do) love this project. They are able to use a movie to show off their smarts about literary terms. This is winter/Christmas themed, but the backgrounds can be changed by the students. I love this projects because it gives the students a chance to analyze something they usually passively watch.
