About the store

Experience

Margot is following in her mom's footsteps and is teaching 4th through 6th grade students who are learning English and have immigrated from other countries. She student taught in 2nd and 5th grades, and has also taught ELD grades 1-3.

Teaching style

I believe in student-centered instruction. We teach our students at their level and measure their progress instead of the end product only.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Margot graduated as a high school valedictorian and was accepted to the President's Scholar program at CSULB. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Liberal Studies, minor in Spanish, Multiple Subject Credential, and BCLAD/BILA.

My own education history

I graduated from the same high school as my teacher mom, as well as California State University, Long Beach (it also runs in the family!).

Additional biographical information

My mom moved to the US from Cuba when she was 4 years old, so she remembers being an ELD student in a time when there was no ELD instruction. Because of this, she decided at a young age that she would be the teacher she did not have. Her passion for teaching English Learners seeped into my teaching aspirations, too.

For this reason, many of our activities contain many leveled and differentiated aspects. Our mission is to allow access to the same content to all learners.

Banner Credits:
http://frompond.blogspot.com
http://www.teachersnotebook.com/shop/LittleRedsClipArt
www.jenjonesfonts.com
