About the store
Hi! My name is Laurie. I have over 20 years of experience teaching K-5 ELLs (English language learners). I love sharing no-prep materials for primary and ESL students including printables, digital resources and Boom cards. A little bit more about me: I'm currently a kindergarten ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher in upstate NY. (In New York state, my title is ENL or English as a New Language teacher.) I'm certified in both elementary education and ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) and have over twenty years teaching experience in both public and parochial schools, urban and suburban. I keep up to date by participating in educational opportunities (I'm trained in LETRs and I'm pursuing ISTE certification). I love sharing ideas for teaching ELL students, especially lesson ideas and activities for teaching new English speakers in grades K-6.

Teaching style

I love using a variety of instructional strategies to meet the individual needs of my students. I also love making learning fun!

Awards & shining teacher moments

One of my proudest professional moments was receiving an award from the Rochester City School District for implementing a Saturday Family Literacy Program. I'm a NYS Computer Science and Digital Fluency Master Educator, a Seesaw Ambassador, and I am in the process of pursuing ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) certification.

My own education history

I have degrees in elementary education from Wheaton College (IL) and T.E.S.O.L. (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Nazareth College (NY).

Additional biographical information

I love to read, and it is my desire that every student I work with would also learn the joy of books! Also, although it is not in my subject area, I love STEM initiatives, robotics and all things tech. Check out my website for more great resources! https://www.elementaryesl.com/
