This packet includes place value word problems that require different methods of solving. There is an answer key. I have also included 2 strategies to assist students in solving the problems. There are place value mats and visual aids to help with the solving. Therre are also numerous extension ideas and activities to build student knowledge and proficiency.

This project goes along with Common Core standard 1.E.1. Students are assigned an income and then make choices between various goods and services. There are also items that must be purchased (needs). Students have to budget their money. The project also has 3 journal entries to assess student understanding.

This packet includes 15 word problems, answer key, and a problem-solving process checklist. Skills featured in problems include place value, fair shares, addition, subtraction with regrouping, multiplication, and missing addends.
