I am currently in my eighth year of teaching. I have taught third and first grades. I am originally from Michigan but teach in North Carolina. Before that, I did substitute teaching, preK-12, for over 2 years.
This project goes along with Common Core standard 1.E.1. Students are assigned an income and then make choices between various goods and services. There are also items that must be purchased (needs). Students have to budget their money. The project also has 3 journal entries to assess student understanding.
This PowerPoiny presentation is an introductory lesson to estimation as well as estimating sums and differences. There are real-life math problems to help students understand when and why to estimate.
Each month has activities that students can do at home for extra practice in all curriculum areas. I use it as an extra activity that students complete for a monthly trip to the prize box.
This packet includes 10 mystery numbers task cards along with answer key. The cards help ith basic operations review as well as using key math vocabulary.
