I have compiled a selection of Thanksgiving poetry that can be used to teach the elements of poetry under the 2nd grade Common Core standards. I have categorized the poetry selections under the elements of alliteration, repetition, rhyme, and regular beats. A description of each element is included to help assist you in the instruction of the material. I hope your students enjoy the poems selected and are able to gain a better understanding of poetry.
