About the store

Experience

I have been a teacher for over 20 years. I taught in a Montessori school for 3 years, and then moved on to public education. I have had the pleasure of teaching 2nd grade for 15 years, and then moved on to E.I.P. where I help K-5 students with ELA and Math.

Teaching style

I primarily teach in a small group setting (2-8) to focus on specific skills. I use manipulatives daily and I chunk/review lessons so students feel comfortable with their newly learned skill. I use the scaffolding approach most often. I am notorious for tracking information and sharing this data with the teachers, students, and parents to confirm that the student is progressing and is on the right track.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Golden Apple recipient in 2008 and in 2020. I was nominated for Teacher of the Year in Cherokee County,

My own education history

I have a Bachelors Degree in Business A Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education A Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education

Additional biographical information

I am married and have 3 children. One suffered from anxiety throughout school, so I know how to minimize assignments so students are confident enough to succeed. I also have a child with ADD, so again, I know how to chunk lessons and create study guides to keep everyone on track.
