Using cut out tokens, or simply writing in the possible answers, students break apart big visual representations of numbers. The activity is focused on 5's and 10's, but doesn't have to be. For reuse, laminate and use dry erase marker. Try having struggling students cross out the number of each item they use for each decomposition. To edit the the numbers in order to better accommodate your students, use the .pptx file. Otherwise, the PDF file is ready to print.
