Experience
I am a Certified Academic Language Therapist with 20 years of experience in the field of education. I work extensively with students who have dyslexia or other learning disabilities. I also help teachers develop RTI (response to intervention) curriculum to meet the needs of their individual students and model lessons for them as needed.
Teaching style
I like to develop curriculum that supplements research-proven interventions (Saxon Phonics, Phonics Intervention, Take Flight,etc.). I believe in using a multi-sensory approach, especially when working with struggling readers. I also believe in pre-assessing students to see where their gaps are and then tailoring instruction to fill those gaps. Monitoring progress is also essential to student success.
