This is a great way to assess if your students can identify the main topic. The students read a couple of sentences of a topic and then must determine the main topic. This assignment is designed with beginning readers in mind. The students are provided with multiple choices and can cut and paste the main topic. They also have to write one complete sentence to identify the main topic of another set of sentences.
