Need more writing in math class? After students have learned how to calculate volume for cylinders, cones, and spheres, use these writing prompts to help them articulate their process for different types of problems. There are 4 total writing prompts included in the download.
After students have learned how to use the formulas for the volume of cylinders and cones, this worksheet practices using these formulas to solve for missing dimensions. Students need to have an understanding of square roots before tackling this assignment. Problems on the back of the worksheet get progressively more difficult and include numbers in terms of pi.
A great way to practice volume problems for cylinders, cones, and spheres. Problems get more complicated the higher the point values. Links from the Jeopardy board take you straight to the problem so students don't get to see other questions. Link at the top of each question takes you back to the Jeopardy board. Solutions are included on the final slide.
This bundle includes a wide variety of supplemental materials to support your students work with 8th Grade Geometry Topics: Volume of Cylinders, Cones, and Spheres and Geometric Transformations. Includes: leveled writing activities with grading rubrics, Scavenger Hunt, Jeopardy game, Powerpoint of practice problems, Formula review game, and formative assessments.
This worksheet has specific directions (ordered pairs) to plot a small heart on a coordinate grid. Students then follow a series of directions to translate and reflect the shape creating 4 separate hearts. There are tables to fill in ordered pairs for the image after each transformation. I use this as an optional extension and then post the hearts as decoration in the classroom.
After working through Reflections in a coordinate plane, I wanted a way to check student understanding for specific concepts. I created this checkpoint as a way to see what part of the process students were struggling with. It is a single sheet assessment that can be used as a pre/post test, homework assignment, or targeted intervention.
There are check for understanding assessments for Translations, Reflections, and Rotations. These can be used individually or together as a unit assessment. Students should have a working understanding of original and image terminology as well as prime notation. Editable document makes it easy to adjust questions to fit your students needs.
After completing a unit on translations on a coordinate grid, I wanted to know where my students were with specific topics. I created this checkpoint knowing that I could target specific things they struggled with. This could also be used as a pre-test or a post-test, quiz, or homework assignment. Answer key is the first page of the document, the blank reproducible is the second page. Drawings are not included in the answer key. **document may need to be adjusted depending on your version of
Spiral Reviews created on Classkick with answers included. Teachers can choose to show grading when students complete the slides. This allows students to see if they have the correct answer immediately or not. Completely editable for customizing it to your students' needs. Also includes some assignments connected to Ready Math workbooks for 7th Grade
A fun way to practice problems involving perimeter, area, Circumference, surface area, and volume. Problems get harder the higher the point value. Links from the Jeopardy board take you straight to the problem so students don't get to see other questions. Link at the top of each question takes you back to the Jeopardy board. Solutions are included on the final slide.
A fun way to practice Volume problems involving Cylinders, Cones, and Spheres. The Powerpoint slides have the problem sets. Print them out and "hide" them around the classroom. There are 4 scavenger hunt cards. Each card has the solutions to 5 problems. Students work to solve the problems around the room and write down which problem number has the solution on their card. Great for group work and getting students up out of their seats.
The Powerpoint is an introduction into the vocabulary words associated with Parallel Lines and Transversals. Each vocab word is described and then a series of sample problems are available.
After students are introduced to the vocabulary for Parallel lines cut by a transversal you can assign this worksheet. There is an accompanying Kahoot game that I created for students to check their answers. I assign the worksheet for homework and tell them we will play Kahoot to check answers and I alway
After working through Rotations in a coordinate plane, I wanted a way to check student understanding for specific concepts. I created this checkpoint as a way to see what part of the process students were struggling with. It is a single sheet assessment that can be used as a pre/post test, homework assignment, or targeted intervention.
This PowerPoint is intended to give students practice problems using reflections and translations on a coordinate grid. I use this with my projector on my white board (could be used on a chalk board) and have the students work out the problem on their own, then come up to the projector to show their work for the class to see.
This 10 question review game is great to wrap up a unit of surface area and volume. Students will use the familiar BINGO board but will fill in each square with a formula from the unit. When a question comes up they will solve it and then look at their MATHO board to see if they can "mark" a formula they used. The solutions for each question are just a click away on each slide. Easy PowerPoint format, makes adjusting problems simple. MATHO board is available as a free download Formuals includ
This blank MATHO board is intended to accompany the MATHO review game available for purchase. There are 24 blank spaces on the board for students to fill in a formula from area, surface area, or volume. It may be necessary to duplicate a few formulas. Have students pick 1 to mark when its used in the problem solving. This may become a strategic element to winning the MATHO game.
