Self tracking data is a proven method to help encourage student motivation and effort. They then will use those same items and search the tax rates of 3 other states, calculating the amount of tax again. Three ways are used: 1) Cross multiplication (you will need to show the tax formula). 2) Shortcut of multiplying by the decimal equivalent of the percent. 3) Finding the total price by multiplying 1.0___.

A fun Triangle Exploration activity with provided worksheet. You will need straws or string cut to various lengths for each group for them to test out if various combinations of lengths will make a triangle or not. The visuals and hands on activity will help solidify their learning!
