Foldable that goes along with the Everyday Math lesson 4.1. It is also a great foldable to help students work out word problems by having the student read the problem, complete a diagram, draw a model, write a number model, and answer the question.
This product comes with four separate activities (2 that have students round to the nearest tens place and 2 activities rounding to the nearest hundreds place) that can be done individually, with partners, or by the whole class. It is great to do as a warm up or for centers.
This lesson goes with 2nd Grade Everyday Math Lesson 9.5, but can also be used separately as an activity to measure with miles. This is a great activity to be used for grades 2nd-5th. I have included different levels of difficulty. Students will use different areas on the map and a foldable to help practice measuring with miles.
I decided to have the students use ice cream scoops to represent a certain letter of their name. There were four baggies total. The vowels were 25 cents, letters B-J were 10 cents, K-R were 5 cents, and S-Z were 1 cent. They then stacked their scoops and added up the total amount. On the back of the page they then answered a series of questions. I loved seeing how this activity worked out and wished I had enough time for the student to enjoy some actual ice cream after the activity.
A great foldable that goes with the everyday math lessons to help students learn the properties between centimeters, inches, feet, and yards.
