I have included different levels of difficulty. Students will use different areas on the map and a foldable to help practice measuring with miles.

I decided to have the students use ice cream scoops to represent a certain letter of their name. There were four baggies total. The vowels were 25 cents, letters B-J were 10 cents, K-R were 5 cents, and S-Z were 1 cent. They then stacked their scoops and added up the total amount. On the back of the page they then answered a series of questions. I loved seeing how this activity worked out and wished I had enough time for the student to enjoy some actual ice cream after the activity.
