Engaging Elementaries

Help students to learn all about the winter Olympics, Paralympics, a country sending athletes, and some of the inspirational athletes that are competing! Includes 4 different reading passages with comprehension questions and writing opportunities to match : Comparing/Contrasting two sports, All about the Host Cities, The history of the Olympics, Inspirational athletes in the Paralympics. It also included extension opportunities where students can research a sport, athlete in either Olympics/Par

4 pages to practice line plots using quarter inches, half inches, and eighth inches. Includes questions to support thinking. Great for morning work, homework, or additional supplemental practice!

Students can practice their graphing skills through this activity. Students will be responsible for creating a research question, collecting data, then creating various graphs to show their results. There is an additional option for students to create questions for each other about their data. Example is included, as well as rubrics for individual graphs or as an overall project.
