A simple graphic organizer to help visual learners understand why supporting details "hold up" the main idea. I use this in my grade 9 ESOL and ELA classes. Students provide a main idea in the table top box, and then add supporting details in the legs. The fourth leg box can also be used as an area for a student to write a transition statement that will lead into the next paragraph or the conclusion. Document comes with student instructions.
