Worksheet to go along with living nonliving activity: Students will compare live earthworms to gummy worms, record their observations and explain how they know which one is living and nonliving. Such a fun, hands on activity to learn about living vs. nonliving!

Follow up activity for students learning about the animal adaptation camouflage. Students will draw the chameleon in an environment of their choice and camouflage the chameleon to help it blend in to its environment.

Experiment for predicting what heating does to different materials!

Recording sheet for observing and describing the different types of soil: sand, silt, and clay. Students will look at different types of soil, draw a picture, and describe the color, size, and texture.

Students predict what will happen when we add heat to popcorn kernels and explain whether or not the state of matter was changed!

Experiment for predicting what will happen to a liquid (juice) when we freeze it or take away heat. Students will identify how the state of matter changed and why.

States of Matter Scavenger Hunt Students search around their classroom, the school, and/or outside to see what states of matter they find (solid, liquid, gas)

Students work in groups or pairs to see who can melt an ice cube the fastest. The idea of this activity is for students to see that adding heat to the ice cube will make it melt. Students will see that the state of matter changed from a solid to a liquid when heat was added.
