This file contains everything you will need to start up a Reading Folder for your students' Reading program throughout the year. It contains a Reading Log for daily Reading homework, A letter to parents explaining weekly Reading homework, 20 Reading Response questions and Reading Response Log, a List of Genres, and a Reading Folder Cover. Students read and log books in the reading log daily. Over the weekend they complete a Reading Response answering questions from the Reading Response List.
This is a list of Sight Word Sentence prompts using Fry's Sight Words #51-700. Students can independently use these sentence prompts for Word Work Centers. There are 2 prompts per page with 10 sight word choices for each prompt. There is also a sentence writing criteria for each page. In my class I trim around the prompts and have students glue it in at the top of their lined Writing journals. They write their sight word sentences on the lines below. They can do the sentences independently

I usually read the students a book about Johnny Appleseed such as Johnny Appleseed: A Tall Tale by Steven Kellogg. Students will take notes on the KWL sheet, create a timeline of important events, practice writing details, and practice paragraph writing. There is also a Criteria sheet with a checklist
