Everyone knows Rock Paper, Scissors! Now you can use this page to help gather a simple data set to talk about. This is a simple record sheet for 20 rounds of rock, paper. scissors along with a few easy analysis questions for discussion. Use the raw data to then study percentages or graphing.

Imagine explaining how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to a robot that does everything you say...exactly! Can you write a set of instructions that would end up looking like the real thing? Knowing the 50 States is Non-Negotiable. My 8th graders didn't know them! It's hard to discuss weather systems going across the country when you don't know THE COUNTRY! This refresher quiz will shed some light on your students' prior knowledge and hold them accountable for their elementary school learning.

This packet includes three complete labs to practice the experimentation step of the scientific method. Students will test to see if string length, drop height, or mass affect the time of one swing of a pendulum. All you need is a stopwatch, some string, and few objects to hang. (Note: Only string length will make a noticeable change in the time of a pendulum swing.)

This activity gets students talking about the impact of a decision. Use the flowcharts to graphically show the cause and effect for each of the six scenarios. Great for cooperatively learning!

It's not as much paper as you'd think! Tape the pages together to make a HUGE thermometer for the hallway. Have your kids research Celsius temperatures around the universe. Have them place it on a post-it note and place it on the number line thermometer. Any temps above 6000 degrees can be placed on the last piece of paper. I always calculate (with the students) how much paper we would need to measure those temperatures using our paper model.

This is a fun discussion starter covering some of the most common mistakes that we make as English speaking humans. Students should hunt for all of the spelling and grammar mistakes and correct them. Put them in groups to compete with one another for an added layer of excitement.
