About the store
My experience spans more than a decade of teaching theatre to elementary through senior high school students. Most of my teaching experience has been with middle school and high school kids and I loved it! My store features individual and unit assignments designed to bring out the best in kids in a theatre classroom. I believe strongly that every student can perform and will thrive in a classroom environment that makes performing accessible and comfortable, meeting them where they are each day and guiding them on a personal journey of growth. I offer a variety of assignments that include self-guided character development and personal reflection.

Experience

My experience spans more than a decade of teaching theatre to elementary through senior high school students. Most of my teaching experience has been with middle school and high school kids and I loved it! Teaching style

I believe that all kids can learn and grow best when they are individually celebrated and supported in their learning journey. As I reflect on my time in the classroom, I often think back to the kids who started the year in my classroom scared and uncomfortable at the idea of performing in front of an audience of their peers. My heart still soars thinking of those same students performing confidently and celebrating one another by the end of the year. I think of kids who finished the year laughing at the jokes in a Shakespearean scene and lamenting at how their "class family" had to move on and separate from one another when the semester was over. My teaching style is very nurturing and centered on empowering students to grow. I believe strongly in the magic of theatre and I truly am passionate about it. My teaching was centered on sharing that passion with confidence, protecting the self-worth of every student, while emphasizing the class functioning as an ensemble. I taught students how to create a class family and make daily choices to contribute positively to and protect that family. I held high expectations, with our class mantra being "Challenge Accepted."

Additional biographical information

I am now a stay-at-home mom and I love it!!! I am very involved volunteering with my kids' school and love creating anything I can to help their classrooms and teachers. I wrote curriculum for the district I taught in while I was teaching and was very passionate about it. I have always created things to enrich my own children's learning, as well. When I find an area they could use support in, often I (or we together) write a book about it. I have one published book, The Octopus in My Tummy. I LOVE to write, draw and create, and using those passions to support and celebrate my kids and their interests is one of the joys of my life. I sincerely hope that these resources can be of use to you and your precious students. If there is something listed on my store that you would like adapted or that you would like access to but cannot find, please reach out! I'd love to help if I can.
