Espy's Field

I am currently in my fourth full year of teaching, with experience in both the inner city climate and a more rural area. I previously taught in Tennessee and now reside and teach in Mississippi.

I love having a good time in class and so do my students! School shouldn't be a "blah blah" day with tons of information just shoved in a student's face. It should be a time of discovery and action..all while learning is taking place! As much as I can, I relate math concepts to real world examples - sports are one of my favorite correlations. I find it really helps to connect the concept! I'm a firm believer that our students need to practice, practice, practice! I love to give my students the information they need and then watch them go as we practice together, but watching them get it for themselves is one of my favorite things! I also find that incorporating character education into everyday learning is helping my students to grow into the best versions of themselves. It really is so exciting to watch them grow right before my eyes!

I'm a middle school Special Education [math/science] teacher in Mississippi. I'm married to my love, Jonathan, and we are the proud parents of two sweet dogs [Gryff and Tonks - yes, we love Harry Potter!]. We follow Jesus, serve the church, and LOVE kid's ministry! One of our greatest joys is seeing others come to faith in Jesus! On the side, I am a HUGE fan of Cardinals baseball, Colts football, and LOVE [most] any type of competition!! Writing in cursive is one of my favorite pastimes and I put on a mean concert in my car!
