Teaching style

My teaching style is flexible and student-centered, using a variety of instructional tools and strategies that adapt to the needs of each class. I recognize that every group of learners is different, so lessons may change based on student engagement, learning styles, and skill levels. By combining hands-on activities, discussion, writing, and technology, I create a dynamic learning environment that supports understanding and long-term retention.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My proudest moments in education include being nominated for SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year and having the senior class dedicate their yearbook to me, honors that reflect meaningful connections with my students. Student feedback consistently highlights that they are able to learn successfully because I use multiple teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs. Most importantly, students recognize that I genuinely care about their success, both in and beyond the classroom.

My own education history

My education includes a two-year Associate Degree in Medical Assisting, a two-year Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, and a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Beyond formal education, I gained invaluable knowledge through multiple years of hands-on experience working closely with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams, who provided daily mentorship and real-world instruction. This combination of academic preparation and professional training has shaped a practical, clinically focused approach to teaching healthcare concepts.

Additional biographical information

I am a dedicated healthcare professional turned educator, married with three children and a loyal Labrador retriever who keeps our home lively. Throughout my extensive career in healthcare, I have always been drawn to teaching and mentoring others. Before becoming a full-time medical teacher, I had the privilege of guiding and supporting many medical students, which strengthened my passion for education and continues to shape the resources I create today. I use feedback from my former colleagues and students to create all of my lessons. This site includes only resources that have worked for every learning style.
