Reading Conference Form

This Essential Supplemental works in tandem with the IDR (Individualized Daily Reading Log) that I also have in my store. However, you don't have to use them together. This conference form download is a great way to quickly assess how your students are performing with their reading. It's kind of like a mini running record using texts within their lexile range. This Essential Supplemental is an option for at-home reading. I used it with my 3rd graders for the first time last year, and it was a success. Experience

I have been teaching in a suburban public school district for 18 years. I taught 3rd grade for 15 years and am currently teaching 3rd grade. I taught 5th grade for a total of 3 years.

Teaching style

My primary goal is for students to enjoy coming to school. If kids arent' in the right frame of mind or don't feel like they are in a safe and positive environment, they will have trouble engaging in the classroom. I remember not wanting to go to school at times when I was growing up. I don't want my students to ever feel like that. From the start of the year, I foster a safe and positive learning environment through activities, sharing, and modeling of citizenship. I am always looking for new and creative ways to engage my students. That's why I love shopping on TPT. There are a lot of great ideas to be shared! In the classroom, I believe it is important to balance fundamental skills with workshop.

My own education history

I earned my undergraduate degree from Marquette University with a double major in English Literature and Communications and Rhetorical Studies. I earned my teaching certification from Cardinal Stritch University. I also earned my Master's Degree in Professional Development from Cardinal Stritch University.
