Essentially Sped

A great all-in-one packet to teach the 8 parts of speech. This can be used in lower grades, or as a review in upper grades. It was actually created for high school Special Ed. It has blanks to be filled in while verbally reviewing definitions, and then short practice where comprehension can be instantly assessed.

A description of each of the Greek/Roman gods and goddesses with blanks to fill in the Greek and Roman name of each. I use this as the note-taking graphic organizer for the PowerPoint on Greek gods and goddesses I have listed, but it could be used alone.

Colorful flashcards that include all of the figurative language terms required in the ninth and tenth grade ELA standards. Definitions are included for each word, and examples are included for some. Students will cut the labels apart and then glue them on index cards, having to match the definition and example to the term. A great hands-on way to allow students to create their own study tools.

Topic: Should your school limit the amount of homework? This graphic organizer helps students build a persuasive essay by breaking down the structure of each paragraph. Once they have filled this out, composing an essay is easy. I go over this sentence by sentence. For example, first discussing what a hook is, giving examples, then letting them fill in their own... This sheet has worked well with low level writers, as well as students on grade level.
