This reading conference note page will give you an easy way to keep track of student progress during self selected reading. It includes space for a running record and spaces for a student summary and book review.

This morning work is best suited for late Kindergarten/Early First Grade. Five weeks are included, each with math review, a phonics skill review, sight word practice, and SEL. This would be helpful as bell work/after breakfast, or even for transition times and early finishers!
This lesson is made to go with The Big Orange Splot by Daniel Pinkwater. It includes questions for before and after reading discussions (These pages can be used as independent, short-answer activities or as a class discussion). There are also post-read activities to give students the opportunity to describe their own dreams/identity and discuss the importance of diversity in community.
