I didn’t design this system at a computer; I built it on the classroom floor. Over the past two decades, I’ve sat across from hundreds of students—preschoolers—each with their own unique hurdles. I’ve spent 20 years refining the exact sequence that turns 'letter sounds' into 'fluent reading.'

Teaching style
My teaching style is rooted in explicit instruction. I believe in giving children a solid foundation in phonemic awareness before asking them to decode. We start with the single sound, move to the blend, and celebrate the victory of the full sentence. I teach for mastery, not just exposure. Scaffold instruction ensures that every child feels successful at every step. By using a carefully controlled sequence—moving from the letter 'Aa' to the word 'a', then the letter 'Mm' to the word 'am'—students never encounter a 'trick' word they aren't prepared to decode.

My system was forged in a classroom where the stakes were high and the results were higher. Over 20 years, more than 93% of my students finished the year as confident readers, mastering CVC words and core sight words with ease.
I specialize in the 'zero-to-reading' transformation: I have seen children who entered my classroom unable to recognize the first letter of their own name move to reading take-home books in a matter of weeks. This isn't just a download; it's the exact method I used to make those 'miracles' happen every single year.
My own education history
While my formal academic background is a BA in Art History, my true calling was found in the classroom, where I spent 20 years developing a unique, visually-driven approach to literacy. My education gave me a deep understanding of how we process visual symbols—an expertise I leveraged to create a phonics system that bridges the gap between 'seeing' a letter and 'hearing' a sound.
As a completely self-taught educator, I wasn't bound by rigid, 'one-size-fits-all' textbooks. Instead, I built my curriculum through two decades of hands-on trial and error with hundreds of students. This allowed me to create a highly intuitive, multi-sensory system that works because it was designed around how children actually learn, rather than how a theory says they should. My student success rate is a testament to the power of a system built on real-world results and a deep passion for visual learning.

I am a passionate artist, creator, and teacher, but above all, I am a nurturer. My journey in education began at home as a wife and mother to my five children, and it expanded over 20 years to include hundreds of preschoolers, nieces, nephews, and every child who has crossed my path. To me, every student is 'one of my own,' and that personal investment is what drove me to perfect a reading system that actually works.
