This menu gives students options on how to use their Word Their Way sort words for homework. Each week the student must pick one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert of their choosing.
The resources helps students organize their Words Their Way categories to go on a word hunt in their own books. Students search, independently or in partners, for words that would fit within the spelling patterns they are studying.
This outline helps guide students through informational writing. I like to begin the unit with topics they are "experts on" and already know lots about. As writers gain more confidence and familiarity in the informational style I then guide them through writing about a topic they are reading about. The outline helps children refer back to what they want to teach their reading and how their book should be organized.
