Substitute Binder: This binder includes all information necessary for your substitute teachers to feel prepared and confident in your classrooms. It has slides on: daily procedures, emergencies, drills, classroom management, early finisher activities, daily schedules, lesson plan template, class lists, transportation information, contact lists, locations for specials, etc. Having this binder together made my life so much easier when I am out. I use this as an excellent way to get to know more about my students during the first few days. This is a fun and easy activity to have students complete and help them learn about where to find all of the supplies and items that they might need on a daily basis. I use this during the first week of school and it really helps them know where to find what they need all year long.  I have students race to complete it and give prizes to the first 3 that have it completed.  Then, we go over the answers together as a class. I have a volunteer point out each item for those that couldn’t find them.

This is a great get to know you activity. I use it at the start of each year as a way for my students to talk to their peers and learn a little more about each other. It is in a fun and engaging way that creates less stress and anxiety for shy students.
