AP English Language and Composition Summer Reading
This is a rigorous summer reading assignment intended for completion before students take AP English Language and Composition. It requires students to read three books (Bird by Bird by Anne Lamont and their choice of two memoirs from a list). They must also do significant work with vocabulary development and formal and informal writing. Finally, in preparation for the non-fiction requirements of the course, students must complete a news portfolio detailing current events that happen over the sum

Teaching style
I try to teach in a way that is direct and provides students lots of opportunities to practice new skills and concepts. I believe English is a vehicle for critical thinking and writing skills, so that is first and foremost in all of my materials.
