About the store
Having taught English Language Arts and incorporated related academic skills for nearly 30 years, I have primarily relied on writing and close reading as access points, giving students a solid base. However, I have taken the opportunity to pivot from many other angles to both engage and access student interest and motivation. Having taught skills-based curricula for over the years, I have a broad range of teaching experience at the high school level: AP Language and Composition, English 9, English 10, Enriched 10, American Literature 1 and 2, Grammar and Usage, Humanities, British Literature, and English for the 21st Century. I have also taught university graduate-level courses, ACT preparatory courses, and English classes at the community college level.

*AP Language | Data | Metacognition | Multiple Choice Tracking | Chart |

The beginning of the AP school year brings anxiety to both students and instructors—perhaps especially this fall with AP College Board changes in terms of writing rubrics, exam question types, and an earlier exam registration date. The Multiple Choice Tracking Chart for AP Language & Composition—1991 through 2019 is something that I roll out to my students in the first couple of weeks of school as they complete their first multiple choice activity with Virginia Woolf's “Death of A Moth.” I

It's important to teachers that students develop and master skills as opposed to simply achieving grades. When it comes to summative assessments, I allow my students multiple opportunities to retake. It is important to me that students have a very good understanding of core skills before they move on to more complex skills. Oftentimes, though, students simply need some help organizing and coming up with a plan to do that. This assessment retake request forms allow students, teachers, and paren

BTS!! | Student Info., Writing Sample, & Syllabus Signature Forms (*Pre-AP)

At the beginning of the school year, I want to make certain that students, in fact, really understand the course in which they've enrolled. After students receive the syllabus, I have both the student and his or her parent(s) and/or guardian(s) sign a Syllabus Signature form acknowledging that they've read and understand it. Also included here is a Student Information Datasheet, Contract, and Writing Sample sheet. I want to see something that the student has written in the past year. I wan

Student retention increases when they see the relevance of their studies to other parts of the curriculum. I ask students to "connect the dots" on a weekly basis. This gives me an opportunity to see how students create relevance individually, and it allows me to get feedback about areas in which students still need practice. This two-page PDF should be copied back-to-back for older students (a longer response) or single-sided for younger students (a shorter response). Deä Everything Is Connect
