About the store
You became a teacher to teach, not to spend every Sunday buried in planning. If you're the one everyone leans on, and you're quietly drowning underneath it all, you're exactly who I create for. Hi, I'm Jennifer Oatts, a veteran upper elementary teacher. I began creating resources for my own students in 2004 and started posting them in this shop in 2013. For years, I was the teacher others turned to, and quietly drowning. What turned it around wasn't working harder - it was finally building a system that did: less planning, less grading, my weekends back. Now I help overwhelmed ELA teachers plan well, work less, and live more, because teaching well shouldn't mean living less.

Teacher Planner - Simple Black and White Design PRINTABLE VERSION

This teacher planner was designed with organization and simplicity in mind. All of the pages feature black and white designs so you won’t drain your ink cartridges. Many pages were designed in a book format using facing pages. When you print your pages, you will see that the graphics are different for each facing page - almost as if they were mirror images of each other.  This is a perpetual planner and is not editable. Teaching style

I'm a big believer in Orton-Gillingham, a structured, systematic approach to reading and writing (think SOR before SOR was the buzzword). I keep whole-group instruction light and let students learn individually and in small groups. And I plan backward: every lesson and unit is designed from where students need to end up, built on the Understanding by Design framework. That backward-planning approach is the heart of everything just so® - start with the end, cut the busywork, and get your time back.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I've been fortunate to learn from, and contribute to, some of the best in education: • NEA — Master Teacher • International Literacy Association — Contributing Writer • National Writing Project — Teacher Consultant • Association of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators — Associate-level Member • BetterLesson — Master Teacher • Scholastic — Teacher Advisory Panel • ScootPad — Teacher Advisory Panel

My own education history

A little more about me: • B.S. Ed. in Elementary Education (K–6) • M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, Literacy focus, with reading endorsement • Certified in the Orton-Gillingham approach • Trained in the workshop approach for reading and writing at the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, Columbia University • Advanced training in the Understanding by Design approach
