I am a retired public school urban educator who has taught biological sciences 20 years. My passion has been designing curriculum and assessments aligned to state standards for high stakes exams (MCAS). I have taught a wide variety of different students including honors, college prep, inclusion and ESL students. After retirement, I taught middle school and high school science in a small Christian school. The differences in the needs of public and private schools provides me with a view most educators have not had.

Teaching style

I teach and; design with the end in mind because time is a premium. Activities have to align to NGSS and be engaging for students. As many of the standards are higher order, differentiating activities is essential for engagement of all learners. The best lessons are when students can interact with the content and discover the concepts with a more experiential experience.
