Executive Functioning Essentials

This resource is designed to help students develop study skills and support their learning. It consists of a template that can be edited by teachers or filled in by students. The template includes sections for identifying relevant resources, requesting teacher assistance, and taking quick notes on the subject. There are two versions of the template available: one with lines and one without. The template is intended to guide students in their studies and assist them in organizing their learning

This template is meant to be used in conjunction with a class project, essay, test, or quiz. It guides students through the process of: Identifying and gathering the necessary materialsResearching and locating relevant digital or printed resourcesDividing the assignment into smaller tasksReflecting on their grade, EF skills, self, and/or the assignment as a whole once it is completed.

Activity to support self-advocacy skills using self-reflections, prompts, and partner work. I use this to support students in requesting support from teachers, when I notice students struggling, or as a beginning of the year activity. Students may request the chance to retake a test by reflecting on their performance, communicating with guardians and teachers, and taking the initiative to do so. This is excellent to support study skills and test-taking skills in middle school. This allows students to take ownership of their studying and communicate with their family and teacher.

HW tracker to use as a "one-sheet wonder" to show assignments with due dates. I have used this while mentoring, coaching, and teaching students in class and at study hall. Remember to have students check off the activities once completed so that they stay motivated!
