This is a five page integrated STEM lesson that focuses on Algebra 1 Function objectives while also incorporating Biology concepts. Algebra 1 Objectives: I can represent relations and functions using numeric, graphic, and algebraic forms.I can find f(x) for each x in the domain of f.I can relate (x, y) to (x, f(x)).I can evaluate functions for given elements of its domain.I can interpret statements in function notation in terms of a context.I can describe the domain and range of relations repre

This is a 4-page packet that explores the basics of exponential functions and the differences when compared to Linear Functions. It is intended for a Algebra 1 classroom. Learning Objectives: I can determine from a graph, table (by finding the rate of change or ratio of change), and equation whether a function is linear or exponential. For an exponential function, I can evaluate for given x-values to complete a table and then graph.Given a real-world problem, I can identify whether it is a linear

This is a worksheet that has students design a staircase in a house that has all steps be the same height and width. It will lead to students finding steps that have height of 2 and width of 3 or some equivalent proportion (such as 4/6 or 6/9) working as possible staircases. This will lead to a discussion of what slope is, and what equivalent slopes are.

This is a three lesson plan that: Introduces how to Factor out a Greatest Common Factor.Builds on this concept to introduce how to Factor by Grouping.Goes one step further to develop students ability to Factor Trinomials.Students must have already learned how to multiply monomials with polynomials and binomials with binomials. The concept of using the distributive property to multiply polynomials is the essential conceptual idea that the lessons pull from to have students work backwards in this

I have taught a wide variety learners in a high needs areas and constantly work to make changes in order to best help students succeed. My teaching experience includes teaching AP classes as well as EL integrated classes.

Teaching style

I value inquiry and students doing the thinking! I also value practice and know that engaging students is essential! The goal of my lessons are to give students strong practice while also prompting them to think and consider what they are doing.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was named the New Teacher of the year at my school in my first year teaching and have been rated as highly effective every single year I have taught.

My own education history

I graduated with a BS in Mathematics Education from Purdue University with a certification in K-12 Integrated STEM Education.

Additional biographical information

I teach both Algebra 1 and Computer Science and absolutely love both classes!
